(Alumni) How do I choose the right database for my research?
Last Updated: Jun 19, 2020     Views: 9

Choosing the right database or databases for your research can seem like a daunting task. There are several different ways to choose a database.

Subject Pages

The library has pages that break down the best library databases and popular journals by subject or database type. Select View All Subjects from the library's homepage and choose the subject that is closest to your topic.

Database List

  1. On the library's homepage, select the Research Databases icon.
  2. Use the Database Subject Filter dropdown menu to narrow the list of databases by subject. If there are databases that we consider to be especially relevant to a subject, that database will be listed as "Recommended."
  3. Scroll down the list and select the link to the database you wish to search.

Note that the search box on the databases page does NOT search within databases. Instead, it searches FOR specific databases by name or description.

Once you select a database, consider taking a look at the library page Develop a Search Strategy to get you started with and modifying your research.
