For topics that have strong opinions on both sides, use databases that provide objective summaries, such as Opposing Viewpoints and Credo Reference.
To find these, click on the Research Databases link on the library homepage.
Click on the Types drop-down, select Background information & overviews, then click Search.
Once you select either Opposing Viewpoints in Context or Credo Reference from the list, start your search by entering your topic keyword into the search box. For example, if you are researching information on restorative justice, type:
restorative justice
If you are still trying to select a topic, you can browse topics or issues right from each database homepage.
If you need to understand terminology and quick concepts, encyclopedias and dictionaries are also excellent starting points. On the Research Databases page, click on the Types drop-down, select Encyclopedias & dictionaries, and click Search.
