The University requires that students adhere to the ethical standards necessary to maintain individual and institutional academic integrity. Academic misconduct includes cheating, fabrication or falsification of information, and plagiarism. The University of Phoenix’s Student Code of Academic Integrity defines plagiarism as The intentional or unintentional use of work that is not one’s own, in whole or in part, without acknowledging the source and presenting that material as one’s own original academic work.

Citing your sources is the best way to ensure academic integrity and avoid plagiarism. The American Psychological Association (APA) writing style is a formatting and citation standard for publications, papers, essays, and books. It is the primary writing style required for University of Phoenix assignments. The university currently uses the 7th edition of the APA Publication Manual.

Review the Library’s APA Toolkit or visit the Center for Writing Excellence for more information citing your sources.
