For this HUM/186 assignment, you have been asked to locate information on how TV and Newspapers have influenced American Culture since 1970. There are a few approaches that you can take to find this information.

You can start by reading background information on television and newspapers in encyclopedias such as Credo Reference. Try typing in the following:

When you start typing in your keywords, a list of suggested topics will appear, and you can choose from those. There are many choices in the search results to get a brief history. 

We also recommend that you search in EBSCOhost and click the Choose Databases link above the search box. Click on the Select / deselect all to deselect all the databases and select Communication and Mass Media. This will be the only database that you are searching within. 

In the search box, try the following search terms: 

(television OR TV) AND (impact OR influence OR effect OR affect) AND (America OR "United States")

television AND (impact OR influence) AND "American culture"

(newspaper OR "print journalism") AND (impact OR influence OR effect OR affect) AND (America OR "United States")

(newspaper OR "print journalism") AND (impact OR influence) AND "American culture"

This will give you results with different types of content, such as Magazines, Trade Publications, or Academic Journals. Once a content type is selected, you can click on the Subjects box on the right side of the page to further narrow results.
