The subject of artificial intelligence (AI) can be overwhelming. For an overview on the technical and historical aspects of AI, start your research in the database Science in Context.

  1. Click on the Research Databases icon on the homepage, then select the “S” from the alphabetical list.
  2. Select the Science In Context link from the list.
  3. In the search box enter: artificial intelligence

For more information covering the social, political, and economic aspects pertaining to artificial intelligence, try the database Opposing Viewpoints in Context.

  1. Look for the link to Opposing Viewpoints in Context under the Popular Databases heading on the Library homepage.
  2. In the search box enter: artificial intelligence

This is a general topic and you may need to narrow your focus. Select a content type (such as Magazines) and then click on the Subjects box on the right side of the page.

For more information, try one of our other databases, like EBSCOhost, and add more specific terms.

Copy and paste the searches below into the search box (separately):

SU "artificial intelligence" AND "political aspects"

SU "artificial intelligence" AND SU psychology AND "psychological aspects"

Here are some other tips that can help:

  • The two letters SU or TI before the terms is a way of limiting the search to specific parts of the article to help narrow the search. SU = Subject and TI = Title. Use the Advanced Search link to select these and other fields.
  • The quotation marks tell the database to search for the terms as a phrase as in "global warming."
  • Parentheses, in general, allow either/or searches. For example, (cats OR dogs).
  • The asterisk (*) is called a wildcard, which means if you search for child*, it will retrieve child, children and childhood.
  • Use the publication date limiter to find recent articles.
